It no secret, the amazing effects of lemon water on our health. Lemon is packed with vitamin C, which can help boost the immune system. If you are struggling with this year’s seemingly endless cold and flu season, now’s a good time to try lemon water if you haven’t already.
It’s super easy: Upon waking up, squeeze some fresh lemon juice into a glass, fill with warm water and drink to get that anti-oxidant boost. Its invigorating smell will wakes you up.
In her book, “The Body Doesn’t Lie,” osteopath Vicky Vlachonis reiterates that lemons are very high in bioflavonoids, which destroy harmful free radicals that damage blood vessels and cause inflammation.
I personally love to start my day with lemon water because it cleans me out of any toxins that has built up in my body over the night. Gets me ready for the day’s meal going inside.
I recommend starting with ¼ to ½ of the juice from lemon, in a glass of water. Personally, I squeeze in a whole lemon in 16 oz cup of warm water and I sip it through the early morning until I am ready for breakfast.
Make sure you use warm water, we absorb water more efficiently when its warm. But during the rest of the day, feel free to sip lemon water at a cooler temperature, if you prefer it.
I love lemon water because its great for my skin. It keeps me hydrated, give me the anti-oxidants my body needs to rid toxins from my body and helps me quench my thirst for calorie-laden soda or other sugar-sweetened beverages.
TIP: When you are done drinking your lemon water rinse with another glass of water and spit it out. This will prevent the acid that’s sitting on the teeth from corroding your enamel.
