Celebrity Diets Gone Wrong

Celebrity Diets Gone Wrong

By Cody Barnes |

Humanity as a whole, not just the United States has become obsessed with celebrities. We want to know their every move and mimic their everyday choices, especially when it comes to diets.

However, researchers are showing us, that 1 in 10 people trying out this celebrity health trends have experienced negative & damaging effects on their bodies.

Here are a few of those celeb diets that you should definitely avoid.

The Ketogenic Diet: (used by Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Gwyneth Paltrow)

This diet is basically telling you to eliminate your intake of carbohydrates, which is essentially your body’s main energy source. In turn, the diet suggests that this will train your body into using your existing fat as energy instead. While personal trainers and doctors will advise you that eating in this manner could lead to Orthorexia. Bottom line our bodies need sugar and carbs, not excessive amounts, but they need to be included in our diets.

The 5-2 Diet: (Used by Beyoncé)

This is based on the intermediate fasting theory that’s been trending lately. The idea is that you eat normally for 5 days and then 2 days you limit yourself to only consuming 600 calories or less. While this may lead to a “quick fix” in the long-term you have done more damage than good. In forcing your body into starvation mode, you are majorly slowing down your metabolism. To make matters worse, once this diet is over with, you will have gained all your weight back and more!

Meal Replacement Shakes: (Used by Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian)

This is basically the same concept as the 5-2 diet. Instead of direct fasting, you are replacing an entire meal (or 2) with a simple watered down protein shake. Again you are putting your body into starvation mode and it will only seek revenge on you once you stop the diet. All your weight will come right back and you will have slowed down your metabolism.

Juice Cleanse: (Used by Miranda Kerr, Jessica Alba)

Don’t get me wrong, juicing your fruits and veggies is a smart method in adding to your nutritional daily consumption. However, once again this diet is telling you this “smoothy or juice” is a meal replacement, which is making you have an unbalanced diet. Believe it or not, humans need to be eating a decent amount of fat and protein and that is not found in juice cleanses! You are also losing out on all that fiber because of the juicing process. Bottom line, once again you are starving your body.

Detox Teas: (Used by Kylie Jenner, Khloé Kardashian)

The problem with these is they are supposed to be combined with a calculated consumption of calories and exercise. Let’s just be honest, rarely does anyone stay true to a strict diet and exercise routine. Life always gets in the way, so once again you just end up wasting money. A lot of times these teas contain laxative properties as well, and that can be dangerous.

All in all, diets work if they are balanced. Rather than completely eliminating food groups, you can make changes to your eating habits. It’s called the 80-20 rule. 80% is eating healthy nutritional foods, while 20% is indulging in what you love and crave. Why not try some moringa drink recipes as some of your new healthy choices? Moringa is loaded with all the right protein, carbs, vitamin, minerals and super nutrients that help you retain brain volume and helps you age less. However, be sure you get the right Moringa Leaf Powder as all Moringa are not created equal. Some out there are made with diseased leaves or may have been over processed. When Moringa is over processed it becomes toxic to the body. You want to stay away from that type of Moringa.
