It's February and you already find yourself ready to give up on your New Year's Resolution of losing weight or have already given up on it. Don't give up yet. We are here to help you get back on track to accomplish that goal.
We have 5 important tips to help you find the motivation you need to keep going.
- Set small goal.
When we start a new plan, sometimes we look at the bigger picture. There is nothing wrong with that. It's best to set small goals that eventually lead us to our main goal. Massy Arias, says that you're more likely to succeed when you break your goal into increments that fit your lifestyle, age, and ability. Focus on what you can do. For example, if you can run a mile in 15 minutes, focus on lessening your time by 30 seconds a week.
- Change your behaviors slowly.
Unhealthy habits are hard to break, and cannot be changed in a day. We tend to overwhelm ourselves when we first start. One bad day does not mean give up. Take it one day at a time.
- Get TECHnical
We use our phones for everything as it is. You're probably reading this from your phone now. There are plenty of apps to help keep you accountable for your goals. For example, if you have an iPhone you already have the apple health app, it helps you track your sleep schedule, daily activity, calories, and mental health as well.
- Your Mental Health
You can do the cleanses, diets and work out all you want, but the most important thing is your mental health. Set aside one day in the week, where you focus on self-care. If it's meditating, reading, or spending alone time. Whatever it is, put yourself first. We're humans, and need to recharge from time to time.
- Healthier Diet
When we first start a diet , we tend to overwhelm ourselves. Just like stated before, start small, and don't beat yourself up for enjoying that donut with your coffee in the morning. Slowly take things out of your diet, while adding healthier choices. Add banana to your cereal for breakfast, when you go to lunch instead of getting fries for a side get salad or veggies. Learn to treat yourself occasionally, have a cheat meal or day. Just remember it's back to working hard the following day.
So, don't get discouraged, and throw in the towel. No more putting off your health. Take the baby steps. It isn't where you start, it's how you finish.
