Keeping Your Family Healthy During the Covid 19 Pandemic

Keeping Your Family Healthy During the Covid 19 Pandemic

By Ify Nwobi |

Are you worried about your or your family's well-being during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic? Don't worry, you're not alone. From lockdowns to job insecurity, it's an incredibly stressful time for everyone.

But while there's a lot going on right now that we can't control, there's one thing we can do – prioritize our family's health. Here are nine easy ways to nurture your family – and yourself – during the pandemic and beyond.

1. Know the guidelines

From mandatory masks to social distancing, the science around COVID-19 is evolving rapidly. So to protect your family as fully as possible, keep an eye on the health and safety guidelines provided by your local authorities.

You can also check out resources like the WHO and the CDC for up-to-date information on vaccines and other medical updates.

2. Wash your hands

It might sound basic by now, but don't forget to wash your hands at regular intervals. Ensure your kids wash their hands before eating or touching their face, and always clean your hands before handling a mask.

Worried about dry skin from so much hand washing? Hydrate your skin with Miracle in the Green's Body Butter.

3. Exercise regularly

Evidence shows that regular exercise helps boost your immune system and improve your overall well-being. Make exercise a family activity by going for daily walks or gathering everyone together for a virtual yoga session. Find an activity you all enjoy, and you're more likely to make it part of your family's daily routine.

As a guide, adults should aim for 30 minutes of exercise a day, and you should encourage children to move for at least 60 minutes per day. Here are some fun suggestions:

  • Cycling
  • Dancing
  • Aerobics
  • Dog walking

4. Eat well

A healthy, wholesome diet is the cornerstone to overall wellness. Here's why.

Your growing kids need nutrients to grow and build their immune systems.

Nutritious food can support adult immunity, reduce blood pressure, and improve cholesterol levels.

Always prioritize home-cooked meals and avoid processed food where possible.

5. Drink enough water

Your body needs water to perform vital functions and flush out toxins. Without enough water, you and your loved ones will probably feel sluggish, dehydrated, and a little run down. So, aim for a few liters of water per day, but don't drink it too close to bedtime or else you won't sleep well.

If your kids don't want to drink plain water, you can always add lemon or lime slices to give it some taste.

6. Get the family talking

Mental health is just as important as physical health. Your kids may be struggling with all the changes happening right now, and they might feel lonely and stressed. Encourage them to talk about how they're feeling and make sure they know you're ready to listen.

Don't forget to talk about your own feelings, too – reach out to your partner or other family members for help and support.

7. Nourish your skin

Don't forget about your skin just because we're in a pandemic. In fact, soft and supple skin can make you feel better and increase your confidence, which might reduce your stress levels. And let's be honest – we could all use a little less stress right now!

At Miracle in the Green, we have a whole range of organic, gentle skincare products for the entire family. Alongside our Body Butter, here are some of our favorite products for you to try.

Revitalizing Moringa Oil – packed with nutrients and antioxidants to protect your skin.

Moringa Facial Wash – the perfect way to boost your skin's natural luminosity.

8. Sleep enough

If you don't get enough sleep, your body might be prone to infections like colds, flu, and COVID 19. Why? Because sleep is restorative. It gives your body the time it needs to repair itself and unwind from the stresses of the day.

If you or anyone in your family struggles to fall asleep, try our Lavender Shampoo & Baby Bath. It's gentle enough for everyone to use, and the luscious lavender scent can help you relax. And if you're suffering congestion, try our Moringa Vapor Rub.

As a guide, adults should get around 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night. Kids need more because their bodies and immune systems are still growing.

9. Try moringa powder

If you're looking for a natural way to boost immunity and lower stress, look no further than moringa powder. This superfood is so versatile that you can sprinkle it through anything, including:

  • Smoothies
  • Salads
  • Yogurt

Oringaa Moringa Powder is packed with iron, vitamin A, vitamin E, and over nine essential amino acids, giving you and your loved one's the nutritional support you need – whether it's a pandemic or not. Try it and let us know what you think!

Love + miracles,
