Miracle plant Moringa Oleifera is the bomb! Literally! The Miracle tree, as it’s often called, boasts of feathery fronds and what delicate flowers. Its leaves are highly nutritious and contains a boat load of vitamins and minerals unparalleled to none other. I am happy to say I have a little Moringa tree in my backyard. I found my tree at the back of a local nursery, I immediately brought it home and nurtured it back to life. It’s now my 5th baby, actually my 6th. My husband is the 5th.

I love to whip up a smoothie with fresh Moringa leaves or sprinkle the dried leaves in my green juice. The fresh leaves contain more vitamin C than the dried and powdered leaves. It’s always pure joy when I can use the fresh leaves in my smoothie, however, the dried leaves work the same magic and seem to be higher in other nutrients and vitamins except, of course, Vitamin C. Rich in iron, protein, vitamins and other minerals, Moringa is also a rich source of antioxidants. Research shows that almost every part of this tree is useful – leaves, bark, flowers, fruit, seeds, and root possessing medicinal properties.

Even when dried and powdered, the leaves retain most vitamins and minerals. Moringa powder is considered a superfood in most parts of the world. The natural goodness of moringa dates back thousands of years ago documented in Roman and Egyptian cultures and used for beauty. Moringa is anti-aging and contains unparalleled nutrients and antioxidants that fight free radical damage that can cause skin tissue damage that lead to the formation of wrinkles and cellular death. My intent is to create enough awareness of this superfood so that it’s made available in local stores all over the country for easy access to the masses (especially since the tree may not grow in all climatic conditions). Hopeful it can become a staple in every family’s kitchen pantry.

This is a worthy feat as research indicates no other plant on Earth matches Moringa in its immense health benefits, even having a spoonful of moringa powder everyday as a part of the daily diet can work wonders. For those who completely dislike green leafy vegetables, adding a spoonful to any drink, juice, smoothies, or cocoa.

Pour the boiling water. Add a teaspoon of lemon and honey. Stir well and allow to brew for 5 minutes. Drink in the morning or last thing at night for a restful sleep. Initially, it may seem hard to get used to its taste. Once you begin to feel it’s magic, you’ll be hooked!
